Each member of our team has a personal reason for participating in Relay For Life. But, we are connected by the common desire to raise funds for life-saving cancer research. Our team has dedicated time and energy to raising funds by putting together a meaningful team fundraising event.

Our most successful team fundraising event has been our annual fashion show: “I’m beautiful with Karelle.” This fashion show features models who are either cancer survivors or people who are honouring a loved one who has been touched by cancer. These generous women, between the ages of 16 and 78, donated their time to model beautiful clothes from a store in our community, Karelle. It was an evening rich in emotions for the models, their families and friends and for all the members of our team.

We sold tickets to the event for $40. Friends, family and community members who purchased tickets to the event were greeted by our welcome committee who placed their names in a draw to win fabulous prizes that were donated to the event, including a $500 gift certificate from local jeweler, Célébrité. Local businesses set up booths at the event to promote their business and provide information to our guests. The business owners each donated a prize valued at $75 and our guests could purchase tickets to win those prizes.

We had 40 tables with 8 to 10 people each and we provided guests with a variety of delicious finger foods such as sushi, vegetables, etc. We made beautiful table centerpieces and a gorgeous decor. We were fortunate to have some of the food and decorations donated from local businesses.

Our emcees for the evening did a great job hosting the fashion show and keeping the audience entertained. During the intermissions, we were treated to dance performances, a choir with incredible voices and a charming and talented violinist.

Our fashion shows have been a huge success. We raised almost $12,000 each year! Not to mention, we have created an unforgettable experience for the models and for us. We are very proud to have made this fundraising activity a huge success!
